If a student tests positive for COVID-19, the College will initiate a process of contact tracing, in which the positive person will be asked to identify anyone with whom they had “close contact” over the previous 4-5 days. “Close contact” is defined as coming within six feet of another person for a period of 10-15 minutes or more. The College’s COVID Case Manager or a designated College contact tracer will initiate contact with those members of the College community who are identified. Please note that contact tracing outside of the College community is conducted by the Department of Health for follow up.
To maintain the health and safety of our campus community, employees are strongly encouraged to contact the Human Resources Office if they are undergoing testing for COVID-19. Likewise, if a faculty, administrator, or support staff member is confirmed to have COVID-19 or has been in close contact with someone who tests positive, they are required to inform the Human Resources Office as soon as possible. The College will maintain your privacy to the greatest extent possible. If an employee is designated as a close contact, that employee will be required to self-quarantine and self-monitor for symptoms for 14 days. If any employee is specifically named as a “close contact” through the protocol/process of contact tracing on campus, the College will offer testing to that individual on a voluntary basis free of charge.
We are continuing to research the viability of testing beyond the contact tracing process; however, to track and minimize the spread of the illness, employees should use the Employee Health Form to report their symptoms of flu or COVID-19.
