Register April 28 for student and employee vaccine clinic on campus

Message sent on April 27, 2021

Jeff Foster and Darrien Davenport invite the community to register for on-campus COVID vaccinations with student registration beginning April 28 and employee registration beginning April 29.

Dear Campus Community:

WellSpan Health will offer the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine (first dose) on campus for students and employees on May 4 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. in Bream Gym. Please note that there are a limited number of vaccine appointments available on May 4, however the College may have the opportunity to add additional time slots on May 4. This clinic is for the first shot only.

Students and employees who have appointments to receive their COVID-19 vaccine on campus should enter Bream Gym through the main entrance to the Jaeger Center (near the climbing wall) and should bring a photo ID and their medical insurance card if they have one.

Please read below for important information specific for students, students residing on campus over the summer, and employees who are interested in receiving their vaccine on campus.

By registering for this clinic, you agree that Gettysburg College can provide Wellspan with your legal name, date of birth, home address, and email address to facilitate the registration process. This information will be shared in a secure manner. WellSpan will confirm this information with you through the on-site check-in process at the time of your appointment.

Students

Beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, April 28 at 9:00 a.m., students can begin to sign up for a vaccine appointment for the voluntary May 4 vaccination clinic. Students can sign up through CNAV by clicking on the link below the heading “WellSpan COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic” located at the top left of the CNAV homepage. Students can select a time to receive their vaccine and appointments are scheduled in 5-minute increments. Registration for students will remain open until Friday, April 30 at 4:00pm.

Updated guidance from the American College Health Association (ACHA) and the Pennsylvania Department of Health(PA DOH) was shared with us late last week. Both the ACHA and the PA DOH are now urging college students to receive their first dose of the two-dose series while still on campus, and to receive their second dose after they have departed campus.

Due to the three-week period required between doses of the Pfizer vaccine, students who elect to receive their first does while on campus will need to receive their second dose after they have departed. WellSpan Health will provide information to students about how to schedule your second dose at home after you have departed campus. Given the timing of this clinic and three-week period, The College will not be positioned to assist students leaving for the summer with obtaining a second dose and we will not approve students to remain on campus beyond finals in order to obtain a second dose.

Once students have received their first dose of the vaccine, please upload your vaccination card into the secure Medicat portal. You will repeat this process after your second dose as well.

Finally, students scheduled for their regular COVID-19 test on Tuesday May 4 should also report to the Testing Center as usual.

Summer Students

As a reminder, students who are on campus this summer are required to be vaccinated in order to live in college housing this summer. Please follow the instructions above for Students in order to register for the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine. Students who will reside on campus in the summer can receive their first dose on campus on May 4 and their second dose three weeks later on May 25. More information about the May 25 clinic will be available in the coming weeks.

Employees

Employees can begin signing up for their COVID-19 vaccine beginning at noon on Thursday, April 29 through CNAV by clicking on the link below the heading “WellSpan COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic” located at the top left of the CNAV homepage Registration will close at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 30. Wellspan will return to campus on May 25 so that you may receive your second dose of the vaccine. More information about the May 25 clinic will be available in the coming weeks. Based on employee demand for the vaccine, we can work with Wellspan to determine if an additional clinic is necessary.

As a reminder, employees should forward their vaccine card information to Human Resources at vaccine@gettysburg.edu. You can also drop off a copy to the Human Resources office on the first floor of Pennsylvania Hall. Within the next two weeks, employees will have the opportunity to enter their vaccination information through the SISCO system. More information about the SISCO system and how to access it will be shared soon. For more information, please review the email sent by Human Resources on April 21.

We are thankful to partner with WellSpan Health to offer our community the COVID-19 vaccine. Please direct any questions to covidupdates@gettysburg.edu.

Sincerely,

Jeff Foster, D.Ed.
Interim Vice President for College Life and Dean of Students
