Impact of the Global Pandemic

Darrien Davenport, Jeff Foster, and Christopher Zappe address the global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and offer resources to affected community members.

Dear Members of the Gettysburg College Community,

The Gettysburg College community has closely followed the devastating results of the COVID-19 pandemic around the world, particularly recent news out of India and other parts of the Global South. We know that students, faculty, and staff have friends, family, and loved ones affected by the ongoing pandemic in these regions. In addition, students in our community are studying remotely from those areas. As the COVID-19 situation gradually improves here locally and in the US in general, we recognize that it is particularly difficult to balance the hopeful sentiment here on campus with the desperation at home. We acknowledge this impact and offer the support of our community.

Students can contact Counseling Services by calling 717-337-6960 to consult or schedule an appointment. Brad Lancaster, International Student Services, is also available to students and he can be reached at 717-337-6377 or blancast@gettysburg.edu. The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is also available to employees in need of assistance or support.

Sincerely,

Darrien Davenport, Ed.D., Assistant Vice President of College Life and Assistant Secretary to the Board of Trustees

Jeff Foster, D.Ed., Interim VP for College Life and Dean of Students

Christopher Zappe, Ph.D, Provost
