Gettysburg uses Merit to celebrate student accomplishments and turn those achievements into a verified online profile—a Merit page—for every one of our students.

What is Merit and how does it benefit students?

Merit pages are automatically updated when students win awards, are elected to honor societies, study abroad, and more. All student achievement stories will be published on our institutional Merit page. Through Merit, we’ll also share these accomplishments with students’ hometown media outlets, their families and their high schools.

How are student Merit pages updated?

Gettysburg creates and updates all student Merit pages; no work is required by students. However, students who wish to can customize their Merit page URL, add a profile photo, bio, and other activities and work experience. Students can start personalizing their pages by following these steps:

  • Visit gettysburg.meritpages.com and enter their name in the search box
  • Find their Merit profile and click on their name
  • Click on the “Sign in” or “Use Email” link in the upper right corner
  • Merit will provide instructions for next steps to customize the page

How can students use their Merit pages?

Merit is a verified showcase of student accomplishments and a powerful way to show employers the success, skills, and expertise they have gained at Gettysburg. Students may include their Merit page URL on their resumes and share it with potential employers or graduate admissions counselors. Students can also connect Merit to social networks like Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn to share accomplishments with friends and family.

What information is shared about students?

The information Gettysburg publishes through Merit is considered “directory information” and is addressed under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) “directory information” clause.

Gettysburg College identifies the following as directory information, which can be released without written consent of the student:

Student name, address (home, campus and email), home, cell, and campus telephone number, picture, date and place of birth, dates of attendance, enrollment status, course schedule, field of study, participation in officially recognized activities and sports, weight and height of members of athletic teams, degrees and awards received and the most recent educational agency or institution attended. Read Gettysburg College's FERPA policy

Your Merit Page was created for you by Gettysburg in compliance with our FERPA policy, but you can control your privacy settings, including who and how people can discover your Merit page. Learn more about configuring your Merit page privacy settings.
