Dear Colleagues,
Last month, I wrote to inform you that Dan Konstalid will be concluding his extraordinary tenure at Gettysburg College following 17 years of service. I noted in the announcement that I would speak soon about the leadership of Finance and Administration.
Effective May 15, Chris Delaney will serve as Interim Vice President for Finance and Administration, pending the outcome of a national search now underway. Chris has served Gettysburg College for 18 years, including in his current role as Associate Vice President of Finance / Associate Treasurer. Chis has a deep, nuanced, and creative understanding of the College’s financial strategies and I am grateful for his willingness to serve in this interim role, particularly at a time when continuity is vital.
To aid us in our national search, the College has retained an executive search firm—Spencer Stuart—to help ensure that the search is as thorough and as thoughtful as possible. Spencer Stuart’s expertise in conducting searches for chief financial officers is invaluable, and they will help us attract the very best candidates for this critical position at Gettysburg College.
I’d also like to extend a special thanks to the following members of our College community who have agreed to serve on the Search Advisory Committee, for which I will serve as Chair:
- Gordie Beittenmiller, Trustee
- Lauren Wise Bright, Trustee / Ex Officio
- John Cadigan, Professor of Economics, Incoming Chair of the Faculty Council
- Angela Crispi, Trustee
- Anne Ehrlich, Vice President for College Life and Dean of Students
- Susan Fumagalli Mahoney, Senior Associate Director of Athletics
- Eloísa Gordon-Mora, Chief Diversity Officer
- Kris Stuempfle, Chief of Staff, Professor of Health Sciences (Inclusion Partner)
- Carey Thompson, Vice President for Enrollment and Educational Services
Please be in touch with any member of the committee if you have thoughts about the position, its priorities, potential candidates, or other aspects of the search.
It hardly needs saying, but this is an essential leadership position at the institution. The Vice President for Finance and Administration is a member of the President’s Council and oversees a remarkably broad portfolio of activities at the College, including the budget, the endowment, facilities, dining, and the Gettysburg Hotel.
I am deeply grateful to Chris Delaney, Spencer Stuart, the Search Advisory Committee, and all of you for your advice and perspective during this important search process.
Sincerely,
Bob Iuliano
President
