Student Learning Outcomes

Economics Majors

For the Economics major (BA), students will:

  1. understand economic theories and institutions in both microeconomics and macroeconomics.
  2. find and interpret economic information and data.
  3. answer economic questions by applying basic econometric techniques to economic data.
  4. analyze complex problems and arguments using economic models or reasoning.
  5. communicate economic arguments in oral and written form following the communication conventions of economics.

Mathematical Economics Majors

For the Mathematical Economics major (BS), students will:

  1. understand economic theories and institutions in both microeconomics and macroeconomics.
  2. find and interpret economic information and data.
  3. answer economic questions by applying advanced econometric techniques to economic data.
  4. analyze complex problems and arguments using formal mathematical economic models.
  5. communicate economic arguments in oral and written form following the communication conventions of economics.

Economics Minors

For the Economics minor, students will:

  1. understand economic theories and institutions in both microeconomics and macroeconomics.
  2. find and interpret economic information and data.
  3. analyze complex problems and arguments using economic models or reasoning.
