Gettysburg College has been a proud host of Wilderness Medical Associates’(WMA) Wilderness First Responder (WFR) course for 25 years
The Wilderness First Responder (WFR) course is an industry standard for medical training, leadership, and critical thinking especially for outdoor, remote and delayed care environments. This course is open to anyone!
The initial Wilderness First Responder (WFR) course is designed as a 70-hour training to be held over 8 days. Example topics include:
- Patient Assessment
- Body Systems
- Equipment Improvisation
- Environmental and Backcountry Medicine
- Wilderness Evacuation and Rescue
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a certification card from Wilderness Medical Associates which remains valid for three years.
