More Information
Zimmerman graduated from Pennsylvania (later Gettysburg) College in 1873 and was ordained as a pastor, serving for most of his life in Syracuse, New York. A trustee of the college from 1917 until his death, Zimmerman contributed many rare art works and approximately 75,000 books to the Gettysburg College library. Following the death of his wife, the former Sophia Elizabeth Cook Amos, he established this endowment in her memory.
