The Center for Career Engagement has recently announced Ingrid Bayer ’22, a political science and public policy double major and member of the Women’s Volleyball team, as Gettysburg College’s Student Employee of the Year.
Each year in mid-April, colleges and universities across the country recognize the importance of student workers during National Student Employment Week. This year, Gettysburg encouraged the College community to nominate student employees who showed great enthusiasm, dedication, and initiative in their contributions to campus.
Bayer was selected as the Student Employee of the Year among a pool of 55 nominees for her for her effort in supporting the mission and ideals of the Garthwait Leadership Center (GLC).
“Ingrid is able to establish priorities, set goals, and create action plans to meet deadlines accordingly. She produces work and results that reflect a sense of pride, often exceeding our expectations,” said Denise Shaffer, GLC and Experiential Education Administrative Services Assistant, who nominated Bayer for the honor. “A hidden gem, one of our best talents, is often hidden out of sight or quietly on the sidelines. This humble worker, whose actions alter the course of the GLC, has become indispensable. I believe that Ingrid has the professional make up and the fabric of a true leader!”
Bayer said the experience of being a student employee has taught her the valuable skill of finding balance in her life between work, academic and extracurricular commitments. She was honored to be named Student Employee of the Year.
“It means so much to have been considered among such a special and hardworking group of people on campus,” Bayer said. “I am so thankful to be a part of the Gettysburg community, and I look forward to continuing to develop as a student, both inside and outside of the classroom.”
