Student Employment Supervisors

Gettysburg College is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Student Employment Services provides students opportunities to build the enduring skills that are most valued by employers (internal/external) and graduate schools.

Check out the Supervisors Monthly Newsletter! The newsletter is a quick way to find out what is going on in Student Employment Services, helpful links, and SkillUp talking points for you and your student employees. If you have recommendations for future content, please reach out to Student Employment Services.

New Hire Process

Everything related to Student Employmnent Services for supervisors is in the Microsoft Teams (MS Teams) channel "Student Employment Services (for supervisors)" including the New Student Employee Hiring Form , the New Hire Checklist, the Job Description Resource, and so much more! If you need access to MS Teams, please email Student Employment Services.

Supervisors will still need to post and hire students utilizing Handshake. If you are a new supervisor needing access to Handshake, please reach out to Student Employment Services. Do not try and create an account on your own. This will slow down the approval process.

Once your account is created, you will have access to the employer account "Gettysburg College-Student Employment & Experiential Opportunities". You will not use single sign on to access this account. You will utilize the option to log in with email and password.

If you would like to schedule a training session to walk through the new hire process, please reach out to Student Employment Services.

National Student Employment Week

Each year colleges and universities across the country recognize the importance of the student work experience during National Student Employment Week. On our campus, student employees perform invaluable services with enthusiasm, dedication, and initiative. We depend on the contributions of a reliable student workforce for the efficient operation of our campus. Read more about the process and see the winners of the 2023 awards.

Federal Work Study

Positions off-campus through the Community Service component of the Federal Work-Study Program are available only to those students with a Federal Work-Study award.

Summer Remote Work

In alignment with past practices, the College maintains its policy that student workers are required to work on campus. Remote work arrangements are not permitted for summer employment. (Human Resources)
