Employee Summer Updates

President Iuliano shares initiatives for the summer that include additional vacation, Employee Enrichment Program, and summer hours for the College.

June 2, 2022

Dear Colleagues,

Let me begin by expressing my heartfelt thanks for your exceptional work this past academic year. When I reflect on all that we accomplished together—amid historically challenging circumstances, no less—it is truly remarkable. You go above and beyond for this community. I am extremely grateful!

Today, I would like to share some important initiatives—supported by the President’s Council—for this summer at Gettysburg College.

  • One Additional Day Off: We are pleased to provide all employees with an additional day off on Friday, July 1, prior to Independence Day. This will be considered a College floating holiday (coded with FH on timesheets). Employees who work in offices and departments that do not have the flexibility to take off on July 1 will have a floating holiday to use before Friday, September 30.
  • Employee Enrichment Program: The Human Resources Office, in collaboration with their campus partners, has planned its third Employee Enrichment Program for Tuesday, June 7. This year’s theme is Let’s Root for Each Other, and Watch Each Other Grow. Our HR colleagues organized a variety of personal and professional activities, including tours of campus and the Majestic Theater, fishing at Quarry Pond, improv sessions, outdoor yoga, and more. A picnic-style lunch will be available on the Bullet Hole patio from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. All Gettysburg employees are encouraged to attend!
  • Register online by Friday, June 3. Any employee with limited access to the internet can register the morning of the Employee Enrichment Program on the Bullet Hole Patio. Following the campus picnic, employees may leave for the day and enjoy the summer afternoon! Benefits-eligible employees who work in offices and departments that do not have the flexibility to take the afternoon off will have 3 hours of additional time to be used prior to Friday, September 30 (coded as OTH on timesheets). The Payroll Office will share more information soon regarding the proper completion of timesheets.
  • Summer Hours: The College’s summer hours will begin on Saturday, June 4, and will continue until Friday, August 12. If you have questions about summer hours in your department, please be in touch with your supervisor for more information.

Words alone cannot convey how much I appreciate working alongside such a talented and dedicated group of colleagues. Be sure to take some well-deserved time over the coming months to rest and recharge. Again, THANK YOU for all you do in support of Gettysburg College and our students!

Best,

Bob
