First-Year Residence Halls

For 2025-2026, first-year students will reside in one of the residence halls listed below.

Hanson Hall

Hanson Hall

Hanson Hall has four floors and houses 148 first-year students. It is named for President Henry W.A. Hanson who served as Gettysburg College President from 1923 to 1952.

Patrick Hall

Patrick Hall

Patrick Hall is a traditional residence hall that houses approximately 142 students and consists of four floors and 84 rooms.

Paul Hall

Paul

Paul Hall, a residence hall built in 1957, houses 114 first-year students. It is named for Willard S. Paul, who served as the president of Gettysburg College from 1956 to 1961.

Rice Hall

Rice

Rice Hall opened in 1957 as a men’s dormitory. Today, it houses 110 first-year students, regardless of gender. It is named for John S. Rice ’21, who served as a Pennsylvania state senator and US Ambassador to the Netherlands.

Stevens Hall

Stevens

Stevens Hall is the fourth oldest building on campus. Open in 1868 as a preparatory school for the College, it is named for Thaddeus Stevens, one of the College's founders and author of the 14th amendment. For 2025-2026, this historical building will house up to 46 first-year students participating in the RISE program.

Stine Hall

Stine Hall will be offline Fall 2025 for renovations.

Stine

Stine Hall has three floors and houses 110 first-year students. Stine Hall is named after Charles Stine ’01, a Gettysburg alumnus and long-time trustee.
