COVID-19 Update

Anne Ehrlich and Jen Lucas announce new indoor mask restrictions.

Dear Campus Community,

Based on our most recent assessment of campus conditions, effective tomorrow—Wednesday, February 23—the College’s indoor mask requirement will be in place in the following locations only:

  • In classrooms and labs.
  • At events, meetings, and other gatherings if requested by the host of those activities.
  • For spectators in indoor varsity athletic competition venues and campus performance venues, due to the public nature of these events.

Masks are not required in any other locations, except for those who are not fully vaccinated. If you are not fully vaccinated, masks are still required in all indoor locations except private offices and residence hall rooms at this time. Not fully vaccinated includes individuals who are eligible to receive a booster but have not yet done so.

Masks remain required during the 10-day period following a positive COVID-19 test, regardless of your departure from isolation.

We reiterate our earlier reminders that some people may feel more comfortable if they continue to mask to protect themselves and others, and we encourage everyone to make the decision that is right for them. We hope that everyone will honor and respect the choices of those who are continuing to mask and comply respectfully with requests to wear masks at events, meetings, and in other contexts.

Please note that there have been no changes to our student testing, visitor, or isolation and quarantine policies. Likewise, there has been no change to our employee testing policy.

We will continue to monitor our experience in the coming weeks and make additional adjustments as circumstances warrant. As always, thank you for your continued cooperation. If you have any questions, please visit our COVID-19 website or contact covidupdates@gettysburg.edu.

Sincerely,

Anne Ehrlich
