Dear Campus Community,
We hope you’ve had an enjoyable summer! With the start of a new academic year just around the corner, we wanted to take this opportunity to share Gettysburg’s latest COVID-19 policies and speak to the campus environment you can expect this fall.
While the presence of COVID-19 continues to endure, increased immunity as a result of vaccination and infection means that the threat confronting our campus has reduced considerably. The College’s policies for the semester ahead reflect this stage of the pandemic.
- Vaccinations: The College is treating COVID-19 like other immunizations required of its students. All incoming students are required to be fully vaccinated, which includes all primary doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and boosters as eligible. Please submit your vaccination records. To file for an exemption, please submit a COVID-19 Vaccine Exemption Form.
Employees are strongly encouraged to be fully vaccinated but are not required. We ask that employees share their vaccination information with Human Resources by emailing a copy of your vaccination card to vaccine@gettysburg.edu.
- Testing: There will be no weekly COVID-19 testing of students or employees, regardless of their vaccination status. Students may test at the Health Center if they are experiencing symptoms or have been in close contact with someone who has contracted COVID-19.
Please carefully review the College’s student policy and employee policy in the event you test positive or are identified as a close contact. Note, employees must notify Human Resources immediately following a positive test.
- Masking: Masking is not mandated. With that said, any student or employee may continue to mask if they choose. We encourage all community members to be respectful of these individual judgments.
We are so pleased to be in a position to return to a near-normal campus environment for the 2022-23 academic year. As always, we will continue to actively monitor broader COVID-19 conditions and will respond accordingly to ensure the health and safety of our community.
We look forward to seeing you in a few weeks!
Sincerely,
Anne Ehrlich
