Visiting and Research

Visiting and Research

We welcome anyone to visit Special Collections and College Archives to conduct research and visit our exhibits. We are located on the 4th floor of Musselman Library.

Reading Room Hours

Visiting and research hours are Monday-Friday, 1pm-5pm during the fall and spring semesters. We encourage students, faculty, and staff to make an appointment through our scheduling system and indicate which collections you are interested in viewing. For other hours, or if you are not affiliated with Gettysburg College, contact us through Ask an Archivist to make an appointment.

Doing Research

When conducting research, all outside researchers must present identification. Generally, we will provide one manuscript box or two books at a time, and all materials must be used only in the Reading Room or Eavenson Room. Laptops/tablets/phones and notebooks and pencils are permitted, but leave pens and all other personal materials in our storage area. Before photographing collections, please check with staff on any restrictions. Staff may be able to scan or photocopy small portions of collections upon request, depending on the amount and condition.
