Honors & Awards

A student with an individualized major may graduate with Honors. This designation requires a high GPA (as calculated at the end of the seventh semester), the endorsement of an advisor/faculty member, and a Capstone Project (IDS 464) that is deemed to be outstanding by the project sponsor when the IDS Advisory Committee is ready to request an evaluation.

Lou Hammann Award in Interdisciplinary Studies:

Every spring the IDS Program offers an award in honor of Dr. Lou Hammann, Emeritus Professor of Religion, who was instrumental in founding the program at Gettysburg College. The award is given to a senior who has done exemplary work in interdisciplinary studies as measured by successful completion of a Capstone project, grade point average in the individualized major, and participation in interdisciplinary studies co-curricular activities.
