German Studies commemorates the 25th Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall Nov. 3 - Nov. 9

Gettysburg College is commemorating the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. The German Studies department was enthusiastic about planning the events for the week-long commemoration due to the historical significance and the College’s own connection to the events.

Prof. Henning Wrage is from East Germany and one of his research concentrations is East German audiovisual culture. Wrage was one of the leaders in organizing this week, along with the assistance of the department. In addition, Prof. Eric Scheufler contacted the German embassy to acquire material. Students and faculty participated in a range of activities, from building a wall in the library to having an international skype call with an eyewitness.
