Dr. Kristin Stuempfle publishes paper in Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise

Dr. Stuempfle and co-authors published a paper titled "Exercise-associated Hyponatremia and Hydration Status in 161-km Ultramarathoners" in Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise. 45: 784-791, 2013. This study combined and analyzed five years of hyponatremia data from 161-km ultramarathons in Northern California with primary purposes to define the relationship between post-race sodium concentration and change in body weight; to examine the interactions among hyponatremia incidence, temperature, and hydration state; and to explore the effects of hydration status on performance.
