Jen Lucas, Executive Director of Human Resources, and Chris Zappe, Provost, welcome employees back to campus by July 30 with some reminders and announcements.
Dear Colleagues,
We look forward to welcoming you back to campus and returning to a fully in-person, residential learning experience this fall. I know many of us are eager to resume the normal practices we enjoyed on campus prior to the pandemic!
As stated in an email from President Iuliano last month, employees who have been working remotely will be asked to return to campus no later than July 30. Additionally, a full return to in-person classes is also expected for faculty with the start of classes later in August. Gettysburg College’s faculty and staff are vital to the College’s day-to-day operations. The return to campus work for faculty and staff is based on the principle that Gettysburg College’s educational mission is best achieved when our students, faculty, and staff work together and learn together as a community on this historic campus.
The College will soon begin a broader review of our remote/hybrid work policy beyond accommodations for individual needs. A working group has been formed to reflect on what we’ve learned this past year, listen to community views, and present a recommendation to President Iuliano for a longer-term remote work policy. More information will be forthcoming later this fall semester.
Policy reminder
As a reminder, faculty and staff who have not shared their COVID-19 vaccination card with the Human Resources Office will be required to wear a mask indoors, except while alone in a private office, and participate in COVID-19 surveillance testing throughout the 2021-22 academic year. If you have been vaccinated, please share your vaccination information with Human Resources as soon as possible.
Spirit Day, August 6
To celebrate our entire community returning to campus, as well as to recognize the extraordinary efforts of all of our employees, we have planned a special Gettysburg College Spirit Day on Friday, August 6.
Our Spirit Day will feature a picnic-style lunch; outdoor lawn games, including a campus-wide cornhole tournament; and Gettysburg College-inspired trivia. We encourage you to bring your Gettysburg pride, wear your orange and blue, and join us outside of the College Union Building for this festive celebration! Lunch will be provided between 11:30am – 1:00pm. All students on campus this summer are also welcome to attend.
Thank you for all you do on behalf of Gettysburg College! See you soon!
Sincerely,
Jen Lucas
