Study abroad as a Biology major

A biology major student studying abroad The Biology major has enough flexibility that students who plan their schedule carefully can take a semester abroad in their junior year (or the fall of their senior year). Most commonly students go to Denmark, Australia or various countries in Latin America.

In addition, Gettysburg College offers a number of affiliated off-campus programs for students who may be interested in pursuing studies in Environmental Science or Marine Biology. Two particularly popular programs are offered in cooperation with Duke University and Woods Hole Marine Biological Laboratory.

Core courses for the Biology major (Bio 111, 112, 211, 212) cannot be completed off campus except by petition for unusual circumstances. Students can complete up to three elective courses off-campus.

Interested students are urged to contact the Center for Global Education (x6866; cge@gettysburg.edu) for the most current affiliated programs and their various curricula.
