Learning Outcomes for the Biology Major (B.A and B.Sc.)

Students will…

  1. Demonstrate understanding of fundamental biological concepts and the experimental bases by which these concepts were discovered and/or are understood.
  2. Apply the scientific method by developing experimental hypotheses, designing and executing appropriate experiments, and defining experimental predictions by which to test them.
  3. Interpret experimental/quantitative data and apply the appropriate statistical analysis.
  4. Demonstrate proficiency in finding, reading, understanding and evaluating scientific literature and will communicate clearly and explicitly, both orally and in writing, following communication conventions of biologists.

 

Learning Outcomes for the Biology Minor

Students will:

  1. Understand fundamental biological concepts and the experimental bases by which these concepts were discovered and/or are understood.
  2. Understand the scientific method and how it is used to test hypotheses in Biology.
  3. Interpret experimental/quantitative data and execute statistical analyses.
  4. Use the scientific literature and communicate clearly and explicitly, both orally and in writing, following communication conventions of biologists.
