Jeffrey Gabel
Founding Executive Director of the Majestic Theater
With nearly four decades of experience in the entertainment business, Jeffrey Gabel has been a driving force behind the success of “the grandest small-town theater in America.” Since joining the College’s administration in 2003, Gabel has programmed more than 300 concerts by professional artists and helped produce “Who Are We?: A Festival Celebrating the Films of Ken Buns” held at the Majestic last February.
Jessica Rudy ’07
Director of Marketing and Group Sales at the Majestic Theater
Jessica Rudy joined the Majestic staff nearly six years ago and manages the theater’s marketing campaigns across multiple channels. A former history major at Gettysburg, Rudy was an award-winning news editor and journalist at the Gettysburg Times before joining the team at the Totem Pole Playhouse in Fayetteville, Pennsylvania, and earning her master’s degree at Shippensburg University.

With more than 20 years of experience in virtually every aspect of higher education development work, Diehl has served on the Gettysburg College Advancement team since 2011. She currently oversees Alumni Relations, Family Relations, Donor Relations and Stewardship, and Advancement Communications in addition to her role as Campaign Director.

Michael Birkner
Professor of History
Michael Birkner has been an influential member of the Gettysburg College faculty since returning to his alma mater more than three decades ago. The former Benjamin Franklin Chair of Liberal Arts from 2001-2016, Birkner’s scholarship focuses on aspects of 19th- and 20th-century America and his long list of scholarly works includes several focused on Dwight D. Eisenhower and his leadership as president.

As the Director of External Relations in the Center for Career Engagement, Billy Ferrell helps build relationships with individuals and companies all over the world for the purpose of providing employment and experiential career learning opportunities to Gettysburg College students.

Paul Miller is an experienced administrator, facilitator, and leadership coach with more than 11,000 hours serving small (<20) and mid-sized (<150) groups/organizations. His experience ranges from serving nonprofit and for-profit clients in healthcare, marketing, education, and senior leadership.
Tracie Potts
Executive Director of the Eisenhower Institute
Tracie Potts oversees the Eisenhower Institute and has worked to develop a robust schedule of experiential programming to empower students to be engaged and well-informed global citizens, including Building America: Reinventing Education and Inside Washington. Prior to Gettysburg, Potts spent three decades as an award-winning broadcast journalist, most recently as senior Washington Correspondent for NBC News Channel, the affiliate service of NBC News.
Jeffrey Rioux
Director of the Center for Public Service
For nearly three decades, Jeffrey Rioux has advanced strategic initiatives for campus engagement in educating and creating community change within the realm of higher education. Rioux manages the Painted Turtle Farm, a campus community hub for food justice, and has developed partnerships with community service organizations across the country and around the globe. This past summer, CPS supported student-led initiatives in Arizona, Gettysburg, Liberia, and Bangladesh.

Lauren Wise Bright ’90

Recently named Chair of Board of Trustees at Gettysburg College, Lauren W. Bright has remained steadfast in her commitment to her alma mater, while maintaining a lead role with the world’s largest charitable foundation. Bright, who previously served as President of the Alumni Board of Directors and the Class of 2020 Commencement speaker, was appointed Chief Legal Officer of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation last spring and leads the organization’s legal team. In this capacity, she advises the foundation’s trustees, CEO, senior leadership, and staff on legal issues, is a member of the Executive Leadership Team, and serves as corporate secretary to the foundation’s Board of Trustees.

Carey Thompson has over four decades of experience in college admissions, enrollment, communications, career services, and financial aid. Since graduating from Gettysburg with a degree in English, Levinson has sold and launched multi-million dollar transformational technology initiatives with the world’s largest and most influential brands.

An environmental studies major, Emily Kreider ’25 has taken advantage of the many opportunities presented to her during her time at Gettysburg College, thanks in large measure to gifts from alumni and donors like Sara Harenchar Levinson ’09, who established a Gettysburg Fund Named Scholarship of which Kreider is the beneficiary.

Vice President for College Advancement
As Vice President for College Advancement, Tres Mullis serves as the College’s chief philanthropic officer and leads all aspects of the division’s engagement and fundraising efforts. Since arriving at the College in late February 2020, he has overseen a more than 87% increase in annual fundraising results, highlighted by the Gettysburg Fund exceeding $4 million four years consecutively.

Dr. Ashley Finley’s research and campus consultations focus on connecting best practices for program implementation, assessment design, and equity with institutional outcomes for student success and strategic planning. A significant component of this work at national levels has focused on the connection of students’ personal development with their learning and civic engagement. Dr. Finley is the author of the AAC&U’s report, “How College Contributes to Workforce Success,” and she served as a strategic partner during Gettysburg College’s recent strategic planning process.

Jamila Bookwala has a wealth of administrative leadership experience in the areas of hiring and retaining a talented and diverse faculty; promoting excellence in teaching and scholarship; overseeing orientation and development programs for first-year faculty and leadership training for department heads and chairs; and faculty mentoring, development, and recognition programs. She also has experience in fostering high-impact and experiential learning opportunities and has played a significant role in curricular growth, assessment, and revision.

Mike Coyne
Interim Chief Financial Officer
Mike Coyne came out of a short retirement to serve as Gettysburg College’s Interim CFO. Coyne spent nearly 20 years at Susquehanna University, with his final position being Executive Vice President. Upon his retirement, Coyne was granted emeritus status as Assistant Treasurer to the Board of Trustee. Prior to Susquehanna, Coyne worked at Elizabethtown College and spent nine years with Deloitte in their Baltimore office.

Bill Heyman ’74 is a member of Gettysburg College ’s Board of Trustees. He has served on the College’s Communications and Marketing Advisory Council and President’s Advisory Council. He was also instrumental in the development of Gettysburg’s Entrepreneurial Fellowship program. As the CEO of Heyman Associates, he has been lauded for his contributions to the communications profession, including receiving the Larry Foster Award for Integrity in Public Communications and the inaugural Distinguished Mentor Award from the Martin Center for Mentorship in Communication at the College of Charleston.

Rich Kampert ’10
Vice President in Debt Capital Markets Group | Goldman Sachs
Rich Kampert ’10 discovered a wealth of opportunities on and off campus after transferring to Gettysburg College, leading into his sophomore year. He served as a team captain of the men’s soccer program and double-majored in management and economics. He pursued several professional opportunities off campus, including an internship in asset management at the Bennett Group while studying in Washington, D.C. during the spring of his junior year. Kampert’s well-rounded education and versatile skillset made him an ideal candidate to work in the finance industry. He has been a member of the Investment Banking Division at Goldman Sachs for nearly a decade.
