Eligibility Requirements

The stronger student you are, the greater variety of programs you will have to choose from.

In order to apply for global study, all students:

  • Must have a declared major.
  • Must have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA.
  • All incomplete or NG grades must be resolved by the deadline, and must result in grades which meet other student eligibility requirements for global study.
  • Must spend the semester prior to applying for global study on campus at Gettysburg College with a full load of courses (at least 3 courses completed) and have spent a minimum of one year in residence prior to departure.
  • Must be a second semester sophomore, junior, or first semester senior. First semester sophomores may be granted special permission to attend intensive language programs. Second semester seniors may petition to participate in a global study program if specific criteria are met and the petition is approved. Please contact CGE for more information.

In order to stay eligible for global study, all students:

  • Must have declared a major.
  • Must be in good academic standing and not be on any level of academic warning or probation.
  • Must have at least a 2.0 term GPA in the semester prior to studying globally and maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA and in your major(s). There are no exceptions to the minimum GPA eligibility requirements for global study.
  • All incomplete or NG grades must be resolved by the deadline, and must result in grades which meet other student eligibility requirements for global study.
  • Must spend the semester prior to global study on campus at Gettysburg College and maintain a full load of courses (at least 3 courses completed). There are no exceptions to the residency requirement.
  • Must be in good disciplinary standing, which means you must not be on Conduct Probation by the date of departure.

Permission to study globally will be rescinded for any student who does not meet these criteria. Any monies paid out is the responsibility of the student and will not be reimbursed by Gettysburg College. If the withdrawal occurs late in the process, the student will be responsible for any non-recoverable charges levied by the program.
