Favorite Experience: I had the best time getting to know my host family. My host sister was 19 years old, and we went out one night to dinner with her mom, and we spoke in Spanish the entire time. I really got to know them during my three months with them, and they are the sweetest people. I was happy they were excited to show me around, including small and less touristy restaurants and shops. Going out to dinner with them during my last week in Madrid was such a great way to say goodbye to them; we talked about how far I had come since the first day, and how happy we all were that we got to know each other. I was so thankful to leave Madrid with new friends.

New/Exciting Course Abroad: I adored my "Art History at the Prado" class. Twice a week I would meet my class at the Prado museum to talk about El Greco, Goya, and Velazquez. It was awesome because I would learn all about these artists and their role in Spanish history, and then I would end up seeing their art influences all over the city, and I understood its importance. I felt much more connected to the city. I also went to the Reina Sofia museum and saw "Guernica" with my class, which was such a monumental moment for me. I'll never forget what it was like to see such an amazing work of art in person for the first time.
