Community GIGs: Give Ideas to Gettysburg

2021-22 applications will open in September.

Community GIGs (Give Ideas to Gettysburg) connects Gettysburg students to the local community through free of charge consulting services with nonprofit organizations. Through this experience, students gain professional skills while making a long-lasting community impact.

Applicants will be selected based on interest and skill set and matched with a Gettysburg College student group and project manager who will serve as their advisor. Students will lead and facilitate the conversations with their partner liaison to get to know the organization and any challenges they face. To conclude the project, students will present their recommendations to the community partner liaison and appropriate stakeholders.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the program, students will

  • Enhance or develop professional skills
  • Contribute to a local community organization
  • Learned and practice human-centered design thinking and humble consulting
  • Deliver a presentation with peers to community partner

Design Your Own

Please reach out to us to set up a consultation meeting on identifying an idea and turning it into a project. We will connect you with resources and people to help you get started or move forward.

You can pursue your own idea via the GET Fellowship Path, or tap into the Gettysburg Network to engage in a major component of networking: offering your help. Students bring a fresh perspective and a growing skillset to projects. If you have made a connection with an alum or parent through an event or connectGettysburg, you can express interest in assisting them in different elements of an entrepreneurial endeavor. Keep in mind that you should build a connection first, and that it may not be the right fit at a given time. You can always reach out to our staff for assistance.
