Recognition for High Achievement in English
In December 2008, the English Department became home to the Alpha Pi Nu chapter of the English honors society, Sigma Tau Delta. The purposes of the international organization are to confer distinction for achievement in English language and literature studies, to promote interest in literature and the English language on campus and in the surrounding community, and to foster the discipline of English in all its aspects, including creative and critical writing.
Locally, the chapter engages in fostering a spirit of camaraderie among majors, promotes a focus on future careers/higher education, and supports a variety of fun activities -- from book drives and Scrabble® tournaments!
