Welcome, Class of 2023!

You’re officially a Gettysburgian! You will experience a long tradition of exceptional opportunities that will ignite your enthusiasm and enable you to pursue your passions—both in and out of the classroom.

Now, it’s time to prepare for your arrival in the fall. These next few months will be full of information, including important steps you need to take, and we’re here to help you along the way.

First-Year Seminar

Choosing your classes

At Gettysburg College, you can enroll in classes about subjects you’ve only dreamed. You’ll ask questions, challenge new ideas, and completely change the way you view yourself and the world around you. The Gettysburg curriculum will guide you, and your faculty and administrators will support you.

Beginning in June, after course announcements and before course registration, your summer academic advisor will help create your class schedule for the fall semester. If you have any questions, be proactive by emailing or calling your advisor as soon as summer advising starts.

Then during the week of Orientation, you’ll have time to meet with your faculty advisor on campus. Together, you’ll review your academic goals and course selections, and identify additional resources to help you make the most of your Gettysburg experience.

Your professors will also be valuable resources as academic advisors and references in your future. Discover how to build relationships with them—participate in class, visit during office hours, connect over co-curriculars, ask for advice, and share your success. They, too, can be some of your biggest supporters.

Studying in the residence hall

Living on campus

Residential living is a hallmark of the Gettysburg experience. It allows you to learn about yourself, interact with others and become an engaged citizen on campus.

All first-year students are housed in one of two quads: East Quad or West Quad. Roommate and housing assignments will be announced in August and are determined by your First-Year Seminar. Students in each seminar are housed within the same residence hall, but not necessarily the same room. So, pick one that greatly interests you!

Before Move-In Day, reach out to your roommate and your resident assistant. Between your activities and your floormates, you will find some of your best friends for the next four years—or more.

When shopping for room essentials and décor, be as creative as you’d like. All rooms come with beds, dressers, a bookshelf, and a microfridge. You should bring your own bed sheets and bath linens, as well as any decorations to personalize your space, such as posters, plants and rugs.

Bullet Hole

Dining

Our award-winning dining services is constantly working to provide delicious, nutritious meals at four dining facilities across campus.

The best part? All first-year students have unlimited access to Servo under the U.S.A. meal plan and can choose from a variety of meal plans each subsequent year. From fresh smoothies and daily vegetarian options to burgers and fries, everyone will find their favorite—and don’t forget to try the famous Servo cookie.
