Gettysburg College Grant
Awarded to students who, in addition to financial need, show evidence of good academic ability and academic achievement. These grants are renewable as long as the recipient continues to demonstrate need and maintains a sound academic record. An increase in income or assets may cause a decrease in Gettysburg College Grant eligibility.
The Gettysburg College Grant need not be repaid, but the College hopes that recipients will recognize they have incurred an obligation and therefore subsequently contribute as they can to help ensure that the benefits they enjoyed are available to others.
Pennsylvania State Grant
An award given to students who are residents of Pennsylvania. Award amounts are determined based on financial need and available funding levels. Completing the FAFSA begins the process of receiving Pennsylvania state grants.
Students are notified of their state’s grant requirements by the appropriate state agency. However, as a general rule, such awards require each recipient to carry a minimum course load of twelve(12) credits per semester in order to maintain continued eligibility.
Other State Grants
Other states also have grant/scholarship programs.
States that have most recently made grant awards to students attending Gettysburg College are Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Ohio, Rhode Island, Vermont, and West Virginia.

Federal Pell Grant
The Federal Pell Grant program is funded by the federal government and is designed to assist students from low-income families. The amount of the grant varies based on a family’s calculated Student Aid Index per the FAFSA.
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant
This grant program is funded by the federal government and administered by the College. The program is designed to assist students from low-income families, with first consideration given to those students who also receive a Federal Pell Grant.
What if I’ve received an outside scholarship or award?
If you have received or subsequently receive a scholarship or other form of financial aid from any source that was not listed on your Financial Aid Award Notification, you are required to report it to the Office of Financial Aid using our Outside Scholarship/Award Information Form.
Outside assistance for financial aid recipients will result in a reduction in the work-study and/or student loan after federal need (cost of attendance minus expected family contribution) is met. When the outside assistance exceeds the amount of work-study and/or student loan awards, the Gettysburg College Grant must be adjusted.
