Tuition Exchange

Gettysburg College is pleased to accept Tuition Exchange applications each year from member institutions under the guidelines of the Tuition Exchange (TE) organization. Supporting the educational opportunities of the children of colleagues in higher education is important to us, and we are pleased to be a part of this service.

Tuition Exchange Application and Selection Process

Applicants for Gettysburg’s Tuition Exchange Scholarships must be certified as TE candidates by their exporting institution and meet Gettysburg’s admission requirements.

Gettysburg College awards Tuition Exchange Scholarships to applicants with the strongest academic credentials. Scholarships are offered to top students applying Early Decision, Early Action, and Regular Decision. Admitted students will receive notification regarding their status as a Tuition Exchange applicant either with their acceptance materials or in a separate letter soon thereafter.

The total number of TE scholarship recipients shall be established by the Office of Enrollment & Educational Services, annually. Gettysburg College awards TE scholarships to first year applicants only with consideration given to transfer applicants and upper class students if spaces are available.

The value of the Tuition Exchange Scholarship for the 2024-25 academic year at Gettysburg College is $42,000. Tuition Exchange Scholarship funds may be used only for tuition charges. If the student receives other “tuition only” scholarships, adjustments to the awards will be necessary.

Students who receive a Tuition Exchange Scholarship may be considered for Gettysburg College Institutional Grant funds (need-based) or Gettysburg’s Academic Merit Scholarships. Such academic merit scholarships may be "honorary" depending on demonstrated need or other circumstances. To receive consideration for Federal or State financial aid programs, including Federal Direct Student or Parent PLUS loans, families should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa). If you have questions about additional financing options such as Gettysburg's interest-free monthly payment plan, please contact the Office of Financial Aid at 717-337-6611 or finaid@gettysburg.edu.

Applying to Gettysburg

Tuition Exchange applicants must also file a Gettysburg College application with the admissions office. Students for whom Gettysburg is a first choice are encouraged to apply for Early Decision admission. Gettysburg offers two Early Decision rounds; the ED I application deadline is November 15 and the ED II deadline is January 15. Applicants for Early Action admission should apply by December 1 and applicants for Regular Decision admission should apply by January 15.

For questions about the admissions process, please contact the admissions office at 800-431-0803 or 717-337-6100 or admiss@gettysburg.edu.

Receiving and Renewing the Tuition Exchange Scholarship

The Tuition Exchange scholarship recipient may receive the award for a total of 8 semesters of full-time undergraduate study, including Gettysburg-affiliated study abroad programs. The TE officer of the exporting institution is responsible for certifying the TE scholars each year. Gettysburg will renew the scholarship upon receipt of annual re-certification from exporting school, provided the student is in good academic and social standing. In addition, the scholarship recipient must remain current in payment of charges not covered by the Tuition Exchange in order to receive a scholarship renewal.
