The Music Minor Honors Performance is an option for exceptional music minors.
Qualifications
Student who has excelled in private studio instruction and contributed at a very high level in large ensembles and/or chamber music. The student will have performed on the weekly Recital Hour, in Studio Class, and participated in master classes given by visiting artists (where applicable).
Nomination Process
The studio instructor will write a letter of nomination outlining the student’s qualifications and why in her/his opinion the student should be considered to give an honors recital. The letter should also include likely repertoire for the program. The nomination letters should be submitted directly to the Conservatory Director by spring break of the spring semester in which the performance is to take place.
About the Performance
- A short recital (20-30 minutes) normally to be scheduled as a part of the Gettysburg College year-end Celebration, a showcase of great work in research and the visual and performing arts.
- As an alternative, the recital could be part of a Notes at Noon performance or scheduled during the weekly Now Hear This! Recital Hour (pending space availability).
- A panel of two faculty members will hold the hearing.
- For minors scheduled to perform a jury in the same semester as the honors performance, the recital will take the place of the applied lesson jury. The recital grade will count as 20% total grade for the applied lesson.
