General Guidelines

Greet all patrons with a smile and thank them for coming.

Ensure that cameras or other recording devices are not in the center aisle or obstructing any patron’s view.

Usher(s) should remain at Recital Hall door for 10 minutes after the start of the performance in case of late patrons. No patron is to be seated after a performance begins until there is a break in the performance. Only admit late guests in between pieces.

After a Performance

At the end of the performance (as well as at intermission), please wait until the house lights come up before you “pin” the doors open.

At the end of an event, ushers are expected to:

  • Look for any lost & found items, and turn them in to the Conservatory Office.
  • Pick up programs and trash left behind.
  • Return extra programs to the top of the filing cabinet in the recording studio.
